Katipatch Catchup Issue 18 - 28th June 2007

Dear Patchworkers,

It is now less than 6 months till Christmas and for those of you who can only think of Christmas in mid winter, you must be in your element right now! Christmas fabrics are beginning to trickle into the shop, so be sure to take a look next time you’re in.

Our sale of second-hand magazines continues to be a great way to raise funds for the Neurological Foundation. We have sent a cheque for $100 and want to keep adding to this. We may just have the back copies you’re missing, so feel free to take a look in the magazine box whenever you’re in the shop.

We are starting Wednesday Workshops on July 18th. These project afternoons will run once a fortnight from 1 – 3pm. There will be discussion with participants as to the projects tackled over the term, so let us know if there’s something you’d really like to make, as your input is invaluable. Cost $30 per term (5 sessions).  Call us on 07 549 5900 or email info@katipatch.co.nz  to register.

We have made an alteration to the Katipatch Sisters Friendship Block Exchange. We have reduced the number to 20 blocks as there is some concern that 30 is too many. At the finish you will end up with 19 blocks from different people plus one of your own. The rules are posted on our website  www.katipatch.co.nz   Once you have read the rules and want to be involved, just send us an email  info@katipatch.co.nz  or phone us on (07) 549 5900 to register. We plan to complete this project in October.

Our Block of the Month, Butterfly Garden, is proving to be a big hit. See the attached photo of the first block. The kit is pre-cut so the hard work is done for you. Each month over 12 months you receive a clearly labelled kit with full instructions and diagrams. The full size appliqué patterns are already reversed for fusible web appliqué. Learn new techniques with the range of blocks to make, including one with foundation piecing. Finished size is 68” x 88” (single bed size), so the average block is large. $44.80 + postage.  Call us on 07 549 5900 or email now to get started or to see a photo of the completed quilt.

We have been busy preparing new kits. As well as our popular Butterfly Bag which is now out in new colours, we have the Table Centre available in a variety of colourways, and the gorgeous Kiwiana Wallhanging with a green, gold or deep red border. See attached photos of these kits.

Friday Friends continues to be a popular gathering day for patchworkers to work on their own projects. If you would like to be a part of this group any Friday with no commitment, just turn up any time between 9am and 4pm, and for $10 per day you can join the friendly atmosphere. Tea and coffee provided.
