About Us > Katipatch Catchup > Issue 23
Dear Patchworkers, The recent Katikati Kwilters biennial exhibition was a great success, with an outstanding display of quilts, with beautiful floral arrangements complimenting the show. Congratulations to all the ladies concerned in the making of the quilts, and the preparation and work involved in putting the exhibition together. New in stock are the 100% cotton lamé fabrics in gold and silver – absolutely perfect for Christmas projects; and if it’s too late for this year, maybe you could be thinking ahead?? The fabric is 120cm wide, soft, smooth and shiny and because of its washing ability, can be used in any sewing projects. It also presses well and holds a crease. Paddington Bear fabric has arrived in – we have a panel, which can be used to make a quilt or a book, which we have as a sample in-store. There is also matching Paddington Bear fabric in 2 colourways – a lovely soft blue or yellow. If you’re still looking for gifts for quilting friends, don’t forget our Relish Jars with a total of 1m of fabric all in the same colour tones in 4” strips. As well, we have gift vouchers for $10, $25, $50 and $100. It also pays to mention this to family members who may be struggling to think of something for you! At Friday Friends on Dec 21st we will be having a small Christmas celebration as this is the last one for the year, so come please feel free to come along and join us anytime between 9am and 4pm. We have had a very successful term of Wednesday Workshops with the numbers more than double the previous term. Participants made some beautiful projects all with Christmas in mind. $30 for the term, meeting each alternate Wednesday afternoon from 1 – 3pm (5 sessions per term). Term One next year begins 20th February. Contact us now if you would like to join: ph (07) 549 5900 or info@katipatch.co.nz The Juniors class also continues to grow in numbers. This class runs usually on the first Sat of each month from 9.30 – 11.30am. For the junior in your house from age 9 upwards we teach all sorts of techniques for $10 per lesson, plus the cost of a small kit. If you know a little person who might be interested in joining the fun, please contact us to be notified when we start up again in February – ph (07) 549 5900 or info@katipatch.co.nz There are no more classes planned for this year but as usual, please let us know if there is something you would particularly like to learn and we’ll see if we can arrange a tutor. In planning for next year we have Mary Transom, Philippa Morris of Whiskers & Wings, and Janelle Pengelly will be returning to do a couple of Hand Appliqué classes. Puddle will be demonstrating Clover products and we are in discussion with a couple of others, so watch this space…………….!!! The quote for this Catchup is an excuse you can use during the panic of Christmas preparations……………. Being organized interferes with my creativity. Altogether patchwork Carol & Cindy |
